The Hamilton Beach 70610 Food Processor Overview

If you like to spend a lot of time in the kitchen as I do, you probably like to save time whenever, wherever possible.  If you’re anything like me, you probably like to minimize use of space while maximizing versatility in the devices you use in the kitchen.  I don’t like to spend more time than is necessary grating cheese for my homemade pizza, chopping onions for my homemade burritos, slicing zucchini for my homemade zucchini bread, turning mixed nuts into my homemade mixed nut butter, or mixing heavy whipping cream and condensed milk for my homemade, two-ingredient ice cream.  My Hamilton Beach 70610 Food Processor makes it a snap to do all these things in a fraction of the time it would take to manually do them.  Add to that, the fact that it’s a very affordable machine, I couldn’t be happier.

It has a 10 cup container that is large enough for everything I’ve ever needed for my homemade recipes and other home-cooked meals.  The two-speed plus pulse control is more than adequate to adjust how quickly and/or thoroughly I need something sliced, shredded, or mixed, using the reversible slicing/shredding and knife blades.

The 525 watt motor is powerful enough to handle all I’ve ever needed it to do.

I’ve had mine for more than ten years and I use it often.  It’s never given me any trouble.  I know it won’t last forever but it’s more than paid for itself many times over already.

Affordable Food Processor

I love it.

Affordably Priced And Easy To Use. All You Have To Do Is Plug It In And Turn It On

  • It’s easy to set up and use:
  • Take it out of the box
  • Place the container on the machine
  • Select your blade(s)
  • Lock the Cover in Place
  • Plug it in
  • Turn it on
  • Adjust the speed as needed

You don’t need to assemble anything and or follow detailed/complicated instructions.  It’s basically idiot-proof, which is a real plus for someone like me.

You don’t have to worry about safety either!  If the top is not securely locked into place, the machine will not turn on.  You place the top on the container, turn it until it clicks/locks into place and you’re ready to go.

If you’re using it for more than one item, simply rinse in seconds and repeat.

The machine will do all the work.  You’re in total control.

It’s Great But It Has Some Drawbacks

Storage may or may not be an issue for you.  I keep mine on top of my refrigerator because it doesn’t fit inside any of my cabinets in my small apartment.  I wouldn’t call it a problem but I wish I had the option to store it differently.

If you’re environmentally conscious, as I am, you may rather have something made of glass.  The container of this machine is made of plastic like so many other things these days.  It’s not really a problem for me but I do prefer glass.  On the other hand, if you accidentally drop it, which I have, it’s much more resistant to breaking than if it were made of glass.

The 10-cup container is sufficient for everything I’ve needed it for but it’s not the largest container available.  There are food processors with larger capacity containers (14 cups, for example).  If you need to prepare for large groups on a regular basis, this machine may not be large enough for you.

For these reasons, I have rated it an 8 out of 10.

Here Are Some Recipes I Use Mine For

Mixed Nut Butter

  • 16-32 oz. salted and/or unsalted peanuts
  • generous handful of nuts of your choice (walnuts/almonds/cashews etc.)
  • chunk of ginger root (about the size of the top half of your thumb)
  • Cinnamon stick (ground to powder)
  • 4-5 whole Turkish figs

Nut butter ingredients

Add peanuts to the container, using the knife blade.  Run processor for about 3-4 minutes until smooth (you now have peanut butter).  With processor running, add other nuts, one handful at a time, then add ginger, cinnamon, and figs.

So tasty and so healthy!

It’s important that peanuts are completely smooth prior to adding other ingredients as the oils in the peanuts provide enough oil so that you don’t need to add any other oil.  Peanuts are the base.

Get ready for the best mixed nut butter you’ve ever tasted.

Homemade pizza sauce

  • 10-12 cherry tomatoes or 2-3 whole tomatoes, depending on size
  • 1/2-whole onion (depending on how much you like onion)
  • Several cloves of garlic (depending on how much you like garlic)
  • 4-5 mushrooms (optional)

Add all ingredients to the processor with the knife blade inserted.  Turn on machine for about a minute or until all items are blended into a smooth single formation.

Homemade Pizza

Spread on your pizza crust, top with oregano to taste, add cheese and other toppings.

Time To Clean Up But It’s Very Easy

All removable parts (container, knife blade, slicing/shredding blade) are dishwasher safe.  However, I prefer to wash mine manually.  That’s just the way I do it.  If you wash it soon after you’re done, it’s a snap.  I put it in hot, soapy water and everything comes right off with a few swipes of a clean wash cloth.  Rinse it and either use it again right away or let it dry until the next time you want to use it.

It’s Official.  This Is The Best Food Processor For the Cost You Will Find Anywhere

You can find processors with larger containers, containers made of glass or something other than plastic, more powerful motors, more speeds, and that cost a lot more money.

Depending on the number of people you’re cooking for, the Hamilton Beach 70610 Food Processor is sufficient for any and all household cooking duties.  It’s not industrial strength.  It’s for home use.

I am among the many more than satisfied users and highly recommend that you become one too.

If you have questions or comments, leave them in the space below.

  1. Awe the food processor.  It is something I have always wanted in my kitchen.  I unfortunately am always manually chopping up my ingredients and could really use a good food processor like this Hamilton beach one.

I like the narrow design and it seems easy enough to clean, which of course is always a concern. I have to agree, that storage space in the kitchen is always a premium, so that is about the only draw back I can see. The price seems very reasonable.

Great job and I will be checking this processor out, so thank you.

    • Hi Coralie, Thanks for your comments.  You’ll definitely enjoy your processor and it will make your life a lot easier in the kitchen.  Let me know if you have questions.  Take care.

  2. I have read a good comment about this Hamilton Beach Food Processor in a forum and decided to research a bit about it. I’m glad I found your site because you give a really nice overview. I like it’s affordable and I already picture myself making some homemade pizza sauce. I’ll purchase this one! Thanks for helping me make up my mind.

    • Hi Abel, thanks for your comments.  You won’t be disappointed.  It makes me look like a profession in my little apartment kitchen.  It’ll make your life a lot easier in the kitchen.  Let me know if you have questions.  Take care.

  3. I love your idea of making nut butter at home. Sounds easy and healthy. How do you store it and how long it stays good to use?

A reliable food processor is a must to have in every kitchen. It’s not easy to find something of the right size and strong enough at the same time. I’m glad to see that it exists. Thank you for the recommendation.

    • Hi Mary, I don’t actually know how long the nut butter lasts as it’s usually gone in a short period of time.  There have been times I’ve left it out for a couple weeks with no problems.  I can’t say it’s not perishable but it doesn’t spoil right away and it doesn’t need to be refrigerated, although it would probably last longer in the frig.  It’s best to use it right away though.  There’s nothing like fresh, warm nut butter on toast.  Let me know how yours comes out.  Let me know if you have questions.  Take care.

  4. Hello Bob,
Thanks for this honest review, seen so many reviews but hardly do they use the equipment. Good to know that you have used this food processor for more than ten years.
And thanks for not hiding the drawbacks; also the glass is not a drawback. Will discuss the volume with my wife to conclude on purchase
    Thanks for the review

    • Thanks for your comments.  I’m glad I was able to provide information you can use.  Let me know if you have questions.  Take care.

  5. This is a nice food processor and does everything. The first thing that I like about this food processor is the price. Another thing I like about this processor is the ease with which it can be cleaned, All the detachable parts can be put in the dishwasher and the base is simply to clean with a wet cloth. Done. It works with fruits, veggies, nuts, hard salamis, soft and hard cheeses, and many other things. The issue legitimate concerning this device is that it can shake if you have a very small amount of food in it or are using it on very light weight foods.

    • Thanks for your comments.  Yes, you’re right.  I usually have a lot in mine but if not, I usually hold it in place so it doesn’t dance itself off the counter.  Enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.  Take care.
