The Hamilton Beach 70610 Food Processor Overview
If you like to spend a lot of time in the kitchen as I do, you probably like to save time whenever, wherever possible. If you’re anything like me, you probably like to minimize use of space while maximizing versatility in the devices you use in the kitchen. I don’t like to spend more time than is necessary grating cheese for my homemade pizza, chopping onions for my homemade burritos, slicing zucchini for my homemade zucchini bread, turning mixed nuts into my homemade mixed nut butter, or mixing heavy whipping cream and condensed milk for my homemade, two-ingredient ice cream. My Hamilton Beach 70610 Food Processor makes it a snap to do all these things in a fraction of the time it would take to manually do them. Add to that, the fact that it’s a very affordable machine, I couldn’t be happier.
It has a 10 cup container that is large enough for everything I’ve ever needed for my homemade recipes and other home-cooked meals. The two-speed plus pulse control is more than adequate to adjust how quickly and/or thoroughly I need something sliced, shredded, or mixed, using the reversible slicing/shredding and knife blades.
The 525 watt motor is powerful enough to handle all I’ve ever needed it to do.
I’ve had mine for more than ten years and I use it often. It’s never given me any trouble. I know it won’t last forever but it’s more than paid for itself many times over already.

Affordably Priced And Easy To Use. All You Have To Do Is Plug It In And Turn It On
- It’s easy to set up and use:
- Take it out of the box
- Place the container on the machine
- Select your blade(s)
- Lock the Cover in Place
- Plug it in
- Turn it on
- Adjust the speed as needed
You don’t need to assemble anything and or follow detailed/complicated instructions. It’s basically idiot-proof, which is a real plus for someone like me.
You don’t have to worry about safety either! If the top is not securely locked into place, the machine will not turn on. You place the top on the container, turn it until it clicks/locks into place and you’re ready to go.
If you’re using it for more than one item, simply rinse in seconds and repeat.
The machine will do all the work. You’re in total control.
It’s Great But It Has Some Drawbacks
Storage may or may not be an issue for you. I keep mine on top of my refrigerator because it doesn’t fit inside any of my cabinets in my small apartment. I wouldn’t call it a problem but I wish I had the option to store it differently.
If you’re environmentally conscious, as I am, you may rather have something made of glass. The container of this machine is made of plastic like so many other things these days. It’s not really a problem for me but I do prefer glass. On the other hand, if you accidentally drop it, which I have, it’s much more resistant to breaking than if it were made of glass.
The 10-cup container is sufficient for everything I’ve needed it for but it’s not the largest container available. There are food processors with larger capacity containers (14 cups, for example). If you need to prepare for large groups on a regular basis, this machine may not be large enough for you.
For these reasons, I have rated it an 8 out of 10.
Here Are Some Recipes I Use Mine For
Mixed Nut Butter
- 16-32 oz. salted and/or unsalted peanuts
- generous handful of nuts of your choice (walnuts/almonds/cashews etc.)
- chunk of ginger root (about the size of the top half of your thumb)
- Cinnamon stick (ground to powder)
- 4-5 whole Turkish figs
Add peanuts to the container, using the knife blade. Run processor for about 3-4 minutes until smooth (you now have peanut butter). With processor running, add other nuts, one handful at a time, then add ginger, cinnamon, and figs.
So tasty and so healthy!
It’s important that peanuts are completely smooth prior to adding other ingredients as the oils in the peanuts provide enough oil so that you don’t need to add any other oil. Peanuts are the base.
Get ready for the best mixed nut butter you’ve ever tasted.
Homemade pizza sauce
- 10-12 cherry tomatoes or 2-3 whole tomatoes, depending on size
- 1/2-whole onion (depending on how much you like onion)
- Several cloves of garlic (depending on how much you like garlic)
- 4-5 mushrooms (optional)
Add all ingredients to the processor with the knife blade inserted. Turn on machine for about a minute or until all items are blended into a smooth single formation.
Spread on your pizza crust, top with oregano to taste, add cheese and other toppings.
Time To Clean Up But It’s Very Easy
All removable parts (container, knife blade, slicing/shredding blade) are dishwasher safe. However, I prefer to wash mine manually. That’s just the way I do it. If you wash it soon after you’re done, it’s a snap. I put it in hot, soapy water and everything comes right off with a few swipes of a clean wash cloth. Rinse it and either use it again right away or let it dry until the next time you want to use it.

You can find processors with larger containers, containers made of glass or something other than plastic, more powerful motors, more speeds, and that cost a lot more money.
Depending on the number of people you’re cooking for, the Hamilton Beach 70610 Food Processor is sufficient for any and all household cooking duties. It’s not industrial strength. It’s for home use.
